His classmates are making plans to hang out. Nobody has invited him. Suddenly, three of his classmates approach his desk. BOY 1: "Hey, Shadow. Still sitting here alone?" The others laugh. BOY 2: "Leave him alone, bro. He's got nobody to hang out with anyway." Shadow forces a smile. SHADOW: "Yeah, whatever." They walk away. But his smile disappears as soon as they turn their backs. He looks out the window. SHADOW'S THOUGHTS: "What is so wrong with me?" He packs his things and leaves. Nobody notices. Nobody asks where he's going. Inside it were countless moving images: worlds being born, civilizations rising, stars dying, and universes disappearing. Shadow approached it. SHADOW: "What is this place?" A voice answered. UNKNOWN VOICE: "This is the place that existed before existence had a name." SHADOW: "Why am I here?" UNKNOWN VOICE: "Because you are the only one who can carry what remains." The crystal cracked. A blinding violet light filled the darkness. And something emerged from within it. Not a weapon. Not a creature. But an energy unlike anything the universe had ever known.

APARTMENT BUILDING — EVENING Lilya enters a beautiful apartment building. She walks toward the elevator. At the same time, Ren enters through the main entrance. Neither sees the other. The elevator doors open. Lilya enters. Ren takes the stairs. --- SCENE 10 — THE REVEAL INT. APARTMENT HALLWAY — EVENING Lilya walks down the hallway. She stops in front of a door. ROOM 202 She unlocks it. At almost the same moment, Ren walks down the hallway from the other side. He stops at another door. ROOM 208 He takes out his key. Lilya suddenly looks toward him. Ren looks toward her. They both freeze. Silence. Their eyes meet. Lilya's eyes widen. Ren's expression changes. LILYA ...Ren? REN ...Lilya? Neither moves. A small blush appears on Lilya's face. Ren looks away for a second, slightly embarrassed. Then looks back. LILYA You... live here? REN Yeah. A pause. LILYA Me too. They look at their doors. Then at each other. ROOM 202. ROOM 208. SHADOW: "I just want my life to mean something." A strange wind blows past him. The streetlights flicker. Every clock in the city stops at exactly 7:07 PM. Shadow looks at his phone. The screen goes black. Then a message appears. UNKNOWN ENTITY: INDIVIDUAL IDENTIFIED. COMPATIBILITY: UNDETERMINED. THE SELECTION HAS BEGUN. Shadow stares at the message. SHADOW: "What the…?" The sky turns violet. A beam of light descends around him. Before he can react— BOOM! The world disappears.

Chapter 4 — They Found Her Name One day, one of my friends decided to check my Facebook account to see whether she was actually my friend. Around the same time, I found her TikTok account. I showed it to my cousin. He suddenly grabbed the phone from my hand. He read her name. They knew. The secret was gone. And there was still almost half of the vacation left. From that day onward, they started teasing me using her actual name. I told them to stop. They didn't. The entire rest of the vacation passed with them teasing me about her. Eventually, my cousin returned to his school. I thought the teasing would finally stop. It didn't. Every Friday, I visited my hometown, and my friends there continued saying her name in front of me. I became genuinely annoyed. But I kept thinking that eventually they would get bored and forget about her. Days became weeks. Weeks became months. They never forgot. The entire year passed like that.
